This posting was a bit delayed because of the feverish preparations for "Christmas Street", the annual children's Christmas Show. Today is the party - nearly 200 children whooping it up after their great performances on Saturday, gorging themselves with goodies bought and donated to them by the Diplomatic Spouses - many thanks in particular to Sintia, the wife of the Ambassador of South Africa, and Evelyn, wife of the Ambassador of Greece! Is competition a good way to develop the arts among children?

(On Saturday 28th November CHIPAWO children came together for a festival. It was a very child-friendly time to launch the CHIPAWO 20th anniversary - and this was duly done by the Executive Director, acting for the Chairman, who was absent in Malawi at a SADC Theatre Festival. The following are two perspectives on the day, by two different observers but fundamentally raising the same question: "Is competition a good way to develop the arts among children?"
